Planning a kitchen in Cyprus

Kitchens in many resale villas date from the 2000s and are often the first thing new owners replace. Units may be made locally, imported from Greece, Italy or further afield, or bought flat-pack. Imported and made-to-order kitchens can take weeks to arrive, so ask for the lead time in writing and do not book other trades until the delivery date is confirmed.

Cyprus uses the same three-pin plugs and 230V supply as the UK, so UK appliances generally work here. Built-in appliances still need to match the cabinet sizes, and ovens, hobs and extractors may need dedicated circuits, which is a job for an electrician.

Worktops and finishes

Quartz, granite and laminate are all widely available. Stone worktops are usually templated after the units are fitted and made to measure, which adds time between fitting and completion. In hot kitchens that get direct sun, ask about colour fastness and heat resistance before choosing a finish.
